NYWIFT member Karen Kohlhaas of the Atlantic Theater Company will offer her annual Summer Director Class June 4-Aug. 7. The 14 classes will meet most (but not all) Monday and Tuesday evenings. The class includes hands-on experience in: Script analysis, pre-production and research, casting, auditioning actors, table work, working effectively with actors, leadership, rehearsal technique, staging composition, staging with structure, contrast and suspense, collaborating with designers, showmanship, time management, and troubleshooting. For actors, writers, filmmakers and directors who want to learn or deepen the director's craft, this is a 56+ hour class in directing designed to be as comprehensive and creatively stimulating as possible. The class includes a guest series with six professionals who will give more related topics including creating and producing your own work. FULL and AUDIT participation are available. 20% discount on AUDIT tuition for NYWIFT members.
