NYWIFT was founded in 1977 by a handful of women who saw a pressing need in New York for a networking and education forum for women in the entertainment industry. 45 years later, NYWIFT’s diverse membership is now more than 2,500 strong, made up of women and men who work in all aspects of television, film and digital media, from behind-the-scenes to in front of the camera to the executive suite.

NYWIFT membership is open to individuals with a minimum of four years of professional experience experience beyond entry level in film, television, media, or a related field.
Those with less than four years of experience beyond entry level are welcome to apply for our Next Wave membership for early career professionals. To access a Next Wave application, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your resume.

You must list two professional references with whom you have worked, and provide a check or credit card with your application. Membership applications are reviewed by the staff and submitted to the Board of Directors for approval on a monthly basis.

Membership dues can be paid annually or in automatic monthly installments. A one-time initiation fee is charged upon acceptance into the membership, which helps to offset the administrative cost of membership processing.
Members are encouraged to renew their membership in a timely fashion, if they have not already set their membership to renew automatically, so that they can continue to take advantage of membership benefits without interruption. A $25 reactivation fee is charged when a returning member has lapsed for six months or more. Please note that if a membership lapsed more than five years ago, the individual will need to re-apply as a new member.

$275/year or $23.50/month* + $135 one-time initiation fee for new members
$600/year or $52/month* + $135 one-time initiation fee for new members
Leadership Circle Membership:
$1200/year or $105/month* + $135 one-time initiation fee for new members
Next Wave Membership:
$135/year or $12/month* + $135 one-time initiation fee for new members
$100/year or $9/month* + $135 one-time initiation fee for new members
Dual Executive Membership:
$170/year or $15/month* + $135 one-time initiation fee for new members
*Monthly membership installments must be paid automatically by credit card. Monthly membership has a 30-day cancellation policy.
