We’re looking for someone who:


Is a talented and versatile visual storyteller.

Has extraordinary editing skills on the technical and the narrative sides.

Has edited non-narrated, character-driven films.

Has 6 or more years of experience.

Understands ethical and editorial journalistic standards.

Has a creative mind and is interested in pushing the boundaries of what investigative journalism can look like on film.

Edits with Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects; Avid proficiency is a plus.

Has experience with color-correction software. Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve and audio software like ProTools and/or Adobe Audition are a big plus.

Has preproducing and producing skills (a big plus). A prior background in field producing and cinematography is also a plus but not required.

Has graphics, illustration and animation experience (a plus).

Has proven they can work with less-than-perfect raw material and make something amazing out of it.

Has, ideally, some long-form experience. Feature-length documentary editing experience is desired but not required.

Has empathy, a kind heart and little ego, and is a big believer in generous and happy team ecosystems and working together to tell the best stories we can.

Is a great collaborator and shares often but can also work independently.

Is willing to work on more than one project simultaneously.

Has trauma literacy and experience working with sensitive topics (a plus).


This job is a two-year, full-time position and includes benefits. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. Remote applicants anywhere in the U.S. are welcome. For those who prefer working from an office, our headquarters are in New York City, and we have editorial offices in Washington, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix and Berkeley, California.
