Need to get the word out about your latest creative endeavor? NYWIFT members are invited to pitch their TV and film projects to a group of industry insiders who will critique them and provide constructive feedback. Projects can be in a variety of genres including, but not limited to: episodic television shows, made-for TV movies, narrative and documentary films, game shows, reality shows or children's shows.
All registrants will be assigned a time slot in which to pitch their project and will be required to sign the NYWIFT Pitch Fest Release Form prior to entering the event (downloadable document is attached here on the right under photo.) Please review the document before signing up for this program. No refunds will be given unless the event is cancelled.
Jim Arnoff is a television packaging agent who represents New York production companies that develop and sell original programming to networks. Arnoff has worked at the William Morris Agency as an in-house lawyer and packaging agent. As a certified life coach for the entertainment industry, he has led workshops for the Producers Guild of American, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, HBO, MTV Networks and the Writers Guild of America. He is also a faculty member of the School of Visual Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Diane Best is a production and development executive for truTV responsible for numerous hit shows including Hardcore Pawn (Chicago & Detroit), World’s Dumbest and Speeders. She currently oversees the breakout hit The Carbonaro Effect. She was previously the EP in charge of the U.S. office of the U.K. production company Wall to Wall.
Jim Biederman is a leading Executive Producer and Showrunner of alternative scripted and unscripted comedy. He has executive produced shows for a diverse group of networks including NBC, FOX, CBS, TBS, USA, IFC, MTV, Comedy Central, Bravo, and VH1. His Executive Producer credits include: The Kids In The Hall, The Tom Green Show, The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, The Whitest Kids U Know, Michael & Michael Have Issues, Would You Rather...With Graham Norton, The Onion News Hour, What We Wasted Our Year On, among others. In addition, Biederman runs JimCo, a full-service production company based in New York.
Abby Finer is the owner of Finer Entertainment Company, a full-service writer/performer management and TV/digital media production company that specializes in scripted and semi-scripted comedic projects. Finer started her career in Los Angeles at Disney/ABC Entertainment, working in comedy, reality and variety series development. She then developed and served as an Executive Producer on the hit comedy/reality cable TV series Kenny vs. Spenny for six seasons. Additionally, she co-ran the Warner Bros. Television Writers Workshop and co-wrote the how-to book Starting Your Television Career: The Warner Bros. Television Writers Workshop Guide. Finer has mentored many up-and-coming writers and performers and has overseen several TV writing workshops. She is based in New York City.
Fred Grinstein is a Senior Director of Non-Fiction & Alternative Programming for A&E Network and is responsible for overseeing the development and production of A&E’s real life series. He serves as Executive Producer on hit series including the upcoming King of Pittsburgh and Dogs of War. Previously he oversaw Crazy Hearts: Nashville, Storage Wars, and Dog the Bounty Hunter, and Psychic Kids. Grinstein also developed Amish Mafia, which became a hit series for Discovery. Before joining A&E Networks, Grinstein developed and produced for multiple cable networks. His credits include Make Me a Supermodel for Bravo, Desert Car Kings on Discovery, as well the Emmy Award-winning Cash Cab.
Vanessa Livingston is a literary agent at The Rothman Brecher Agency in Beverly Hills. She represents writers and directors whose credits include AKA Jessica Jones, American Crime, The Big C, CSI, Castle, Family Guy, Haven, Orphan Black and The Vikings. Before becoming an agent, Vanessa was a manager at Tavel Entertainment. She developed series, feature films and MOWs for clients Helen Hunt, Amy Brenneman and Craig T. Nelson, such as the Emmy-nominated Judging Amy (CBS) series and the Emmy-winning Summers End (Showtime) movie. She started her career with a variety of jobs, including working as a development person on a foreign-financed film for Richard Attenborough, a casting assistant for James L. Brooks, a 2nd 2nd AD and a Key Set PA.
Jennifer Phillips serves as a programming and development executive for Crown Media Family Networks (Hallmark Channels). She is involved in developing and managing a variety of original movies, as well as scripted and lifestyle series, including the upcoming series The Good Witch and the Emmy-nominated original daytime series, Home and Family. In addition, she works in scheduling, acquisitions and helps implement ad and marketing strategies, working closely with multiple departments within the network structure.
Greg Rhem is Director of Documentary Programming for HBO. For the past 18 years, he has played a pivotal role in discovering new and distinctive programming for HBO's Documentary Films. Among his notable finds are the Academy Award-winning films Freeheld, Born into Brothels, Thoth and Breathing Lesson: The Life and Work of Mark O'Brien, and the Academy Award nominated Mondays at Racine, The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner and Spellbound.
