THE HEART OF SAMBA (O Coração do Samba) Produced and directed by Irene Walsh is a full-length documentary that takes you to the heart of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's capital of samba. The film explores the bohemian neighborhood of Lapa, where a new generation of samba composers and musicians is flourishing.Using footage of live performances, in-depth demonstrations of samba instruments, and interviews with key players in the Lapa scene, you will come to know this community and their music as seen through the eyes of American filmmaker and NYC samba singer, Irene Walsh.
