The Power Player Breakfast Series brings women at the top of their career game to NYWIFT for intimate, inspiring discussions on their current projects, working their ways to the top and other exciting industry insights!
This January, the guest speaker is advertising powerhouse Linda Kaplan Thaler. Hear how she reached the pinnacle of success while being famously nice. And what a tale she has to tell. She’s a multi-talented, award-winning creative executive, author, television personality and NYWIFT Muse – the first woman in advertising to receive this honor. Enjoy her fascinating story in a friendly, informal setting.
Linda is Chairman of Publicis New York, the U.S. flagship within the Publicis Worldwide Network, whose blue chip clients include P&G, Citi, Nestle, L’Oreal, Merck, Pfizer, Cadillac and Wendy’s. She is responsible for some of America’s most famous, relevant and touching campaigns, including the Aflac duck quack heard round the world and the daring “Yes, Yes, Yes” for Clairol Herbal Essences. She has authored and composed jingles that are among the industry’s gold standard, including I Don’t Wanna Grow Up, I’m a Toys ‘R’ Us Kid, and Kodak Moments.
Previously, Linda was CEO and Chief Creative Officer of the Kaplan Thaler Group, which she founded in 1997 and grew from a start-up to a company with over a billion dollars in billings. In July 2012, the Kaplan Thaler Group merged with Publicis New York to form Publicis Kaplan Thaler.
As a best-selling author, Linda’s collaborations with co-author Robin Koval received national recognition: The Power of Small: Why Little Things Make All the Difference, The Power of Nice: How to Conquer the Business World with Kindness, and Bang! Getting Your Message Heard in a Noisy World. Their new book is Grit to Great: How Perseverance, Passion and Pluck Can Take You from Ordinary to Extraordinary.
In 2005, Linda hosted the Oxygen television series Making It Big and was a judge on The Apprentice.
In addition to her 13 Clios and her Cannes Lion awards, Linda’s talents have earned her the New York Women in Communications Matrix Award, the Advertising Woman of the Year Award, the UJA’s Mac Dane Humanitarian Award, the Women’s Leadership Exchange’s Compass Award and the Girl Scout’s Woman of Distinction Award. Linda was named one of Advertising Age’s “Most Influential Women in Advertising” and recently was inducted into the American Advertising Federation 2015 Advertising Hall of Fame.
