Emily @ the Edge of Chaos will be streaming on NYWIFT’s virtual cinema on Kino Marquee starting Friday May 7th!

Thanks to a rare brain tumor, comedian Emily Levine suddenly understands quantum physics and chaos theory and sets out to save humanity. Trenchant and hilarious commentary on politics, economics, the media, and contemporary culture combined with an honest and sometimes painful personal story result in laughter, tears and those aha moments that forever change the way you see the world. The film boasts a visual style as unique as its content. Interweaving Emily’s performance, filmed live, with 2D animations, special effects, and pop-up appearances by distinguished scientists, and animated characters including John Lithgow as Sir Isaac Newton, Lily Tomlin as Ayn Rand, Leonard Nimoy as Sigmund Freud, Richard Lewis as Aristotle and Matt Groening as Aldo Leopold.

Emily @ the Edge of Chaos is executive produced by former NYWIFT board member Thea Kerman, and directed by the late Wendy Apple. After Wendy’s death, Thea worked with Emily to complete the project, and proceeded to finish the film after Emily’s passing in 2019. Emily @ the Edge of Chaos opens tomorrow May 7 in select theaters, digital and through NYWIFT’s virtual cinema on Kino Marquee.
