NYWIFT Stands with SAG-AFTRA

New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) stands in solidarity with our members and colleagues in SAG-AFTRA as they seek equitable compensation and a sustainable livelihood.

NYWIFT believes in pay equity, diversity & inclusion, and safe working environments for everyone in front of and behind the camera, and in the executive suite.

We recognize the challenges faced by working actors posed by pay inequity, an ever-changing streaming model, rising costs of living, and the growing existential threat of artificial intelligence. We support SAG-AFTRA’s decision to strike to protect its members and ensure these challenges are addressed for the working-class members of our industry.

We encourage all parties involved in the negotiations to find a fair creative solution so that our industry can move forward. Creative workers, industry representatives, and government officials need to find new ways of working toward solving the post-pandemic challenges and develop equitable pathways for all.
