Julia Pascal

Julia Pascal was as an actor before starting her career as a playwright and theatre director. She was the first woman director at the National Theatre on the South Bank with her stage adaptation of Dorothy Parker_x0019_s prose and poetry.

Most of her works have an international dimension. Year Zero is set in Vichy France. St Joan in London and Paris. The Dybbuk takes place in an Eastern European ghetto. Crossing Jerusalem is 24 hours in the life of a Jerusalem family. Honeypot is a spy story set in Stockholm and Paris. Blueprint Medea_x0019_s protagonist is a Kurdish soldier living illegally in London.

Awards include a Fellowship from the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts for her dramatic writing She has been recognized for her work in theatre by the Arts Council of England, Sphinx Theatre 30-30, the Goethe Institute, the European Association for Jewish Culture, the Leverhulme Trust and received the BBC Alfred Bradley Prize, the Moondance Columbine
