TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Kean University (2007 to date)
Department Women s Studies; Course taught Introduction to Women s Studies. Taught over 2.500 college students key concepts in gender theory, emphasizing the historical development of masculinity and femininity. Explored social problems with students dealing with: women in prison, women and wrongful convictions, women and child abuse, women and gang violence, female convicts and prison conditions. Students completed course with a critical understanding of the social ills that plague society and the analytical skills to address them in verbal and written form.


New Jersey City University (2003 to date)
Department Women and Gender Studies; Courses taught Women s Lives, Women and Work, Diversity and Difference. Instruct university students in women and gender studies. Explores key concepts in gender theory, emphasizing the social construction and historical development of masculinity and femininity. Considers how gender intersects with other aspects of identity and social categorization, like race, class, nationality, ethnicity, age and sexual orientation. Topics discussed and examined: women in prison, domestic violence, race and crime in women s lives, women in the criminal justice system, families of prisoners, prison labor, racial profiling, feminism, racism, sexism, ageism, classism.

Seton Hall University (2000 to date)
Department: English; Course taught Business Writing - Teach college students: business writing, reports, memos, communication, interviewing and letter-writing skills. Proficiency in areas of: grammar, sentence structure. Students are also taught the essentials of reading and writing critically, public speaking in addition to speech delivery and analysis. Teach job search methods, and research skills. Proven success record with students entering entry-level jobs and internships. Work closely with Career Counseling Center on campus. Mentors students through the interviewing and placement process. Activities: Advisor for the Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Program.
