Abby Finer

Executive Producer
A Finer Prod Co

Full Bio
Abby Finer began her television career at ABC Entertainment in 1993 collectively working in the comedy, reality and variety series development departments. At ABC, she read scripts, evaluated material and pitches, as well as searched for talent at comedy clubs, comedy festivals and plays.

In 1996, Abby left ABC and became a producer of a feature documentary and later, a development executive at a British film sales company, where she read and evaluated feature scripts and completed films. She then discovered a filmmaking duo that would bring her back to her true passion - television.

Abby went on to form her own production company and began develop television projects. In 1999, she landed a production deal with Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment, for developing a comedy reality show format entitled Kenny vs. Spenny, that starred the Canadian filmmaking duo she had discovered. Abby eventually went on to become the only Executive Producer on the show s pilot for USA Network. Based on the pilot, the series was eventually ordered by the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) for 26 episodes and aired in the fall of 2003.

In fall 2001, Abby headed back to scripted programming by teaming with her good friend Debby Pearlman, to help run the prestigious Warner Bros. Television Writers Workshop. Their routine included reading and evaluating hundreds of scripts, choosing and mentoring participants and helping find possible agency representation and jobs for them, as well as lecturing to various writing groups.

Abby and Debby went on to write a book entitled Starting Your Television Writing Career: The Warner Bros. Television Writers Workshop Guide, which was published by Syracuse University Press in 2004. The book offers a practical approach to information on how to write sitcom and drama spec scripts.

After relocating to New York City in 2004, Abby later headed development for a small television production company for a year and then resumed developing alternative television and broadband ideas on her own.

In the fall 2007, Comedy Central, along with the addition of exec producers, Matt Stone and Trey Parker (South Park) announced that Kenny vs. Spenny would be joining the network s late night lineup with ten new episodes and ten episodes from the show s existing library. Kenny vs. Spenny has since completed six seasons (available on DVD and Netflix), an online video game and has been licensed to many countries around the world.

All throughout, Abby has continued to work independently and with other producers to develop, pitch and create content. In 2013, Abby partnered with Pamela Thomas (SNL, Kids in the Hall) to create a new TV web production company in NYC and Toronto that specifically specializes in comedy.
