Full Bio
Carolyn Balducci's publications and productions include novels, poetry, creative non-fiction, plays, articles and reviews. From 1977 to 2002 she was a member of the Creative Writing Faculty of the Residential College of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She also taught screenwriting at NYU Tisch/Film Grad Program and writing courses at SUNY Stony Brook. Her publications include a biography of Nobel-prize winner, Grazia Deledda (Houghton Mifflin) as well as a bio of American Transcendentalist, Margaret Fuller (Bantam). Her novels, IS THERE A LIFE AFTER GRADUATION, HENRY BIRNBAUM (Houghton Mifflin) and EARWAX (Houghton Mifflin) have been translated into several languages and optioned for film. Her works for theatre include translations/adaptations of classical comedies Lysistrata La Calandra and La Veniexiana and Alcuin, a Fierce and Elegamt Plea for the Rights of Women based on the 1798 novel by Charles Brockden Brown The Hamptons Quartet adapted from Chekhov's stories, etc. Screenplays include BEST INTE

Log Line:
In medieval Germany, gentle Otto, the son of a robber baron, is kidnapped and mutilated by his father's mortal enemy. Though left to die, Otto escapes and eventually becomes a peacemaker.
Synopsis:
In the Rhine Valley in medieval Germany, following the death of his mother, Otto is raised by monks but when his father brings him back to the castle to train him to become a knight, the father's enemy lays siege to the castle and kidnaps the boy. To render him ineffective his father's enemy cuts off Otto's right hand. Thanks to the kindness of the enemy's young daughter, Otto survives. When he grows up he becomes a leader and peacemaker. He and his enemy's daughter fall in love and marry. Freely adapted from a classic American novel(in public domain) by writer-illustrator Howard Pyle augmented by historical research.
