Julie Sloane has been a motion picture and editor and writer since 1970. She began teaching at NYU in 1991, and currently serves as the Area Head for Post Production in the Undergraduate Department of Film & Television at the Tisch School of the Arts.

Bio: B.A., Douglass College 1968. Documentary and dramatic film editor and writer. Director of Look At Me (1979), a documentary about developmental disabilites. Feature film editing credits include Red Desert Penitentiary (1985), and Anna (1987 - NY Film Festival). Documentary editing credits include The Last To Know (1981 -- NY Film Festival) and The Dutch Connection (1982) with Robert Redford & Walter Cronkite. Writer/editor for Michael Blackwood Productions of over 15 documentaries on art, architecture and dance, including Retracing Steps: American Dance Since Postmodernism (1988), The Sensual Nature of Sound (1993) with Laurie Anderson & Meredith Monk, Musical Outsiders: An American Legacy (1994) with Lou Harrison, Harry Partch & Terry Riley, Reclaiming The Body: Feminist Art In America (1995), Louis Kahn: Silence and Light (1995), Balanchine Lives (1997), Steven Holl: The Body in Space (1998), Speaking of Abstraction (1999), and Frank Gehry: An Architecture of Joy (2000).
