Illya Szilak is a writer, director, creative producer and immersive storyteller. Her long-time artistic partner is Cyril Tsiboulski. Their artwork is interactive, wildly cross-disciplinary (including dance, virtual and physical installation, VR, fashion, photography, writing and film), and highly collaborative. Their work defies boundaries between digital and virtual forms storytelling. In all their work, they are interested in exploring new forms of embodiment, intimacy, connection, liveness, and performativity. Dr. Szilak’s keen interest in embodiment in digital media stems from her ongoing work as a physician. She continues to care for inmates part-time at Rikers Island Correctional Facility. They are the recipients of grants from 9/2021 Jerome Foundation
