Marketing Assistant, Del Rey (Hybrid)

Penguin Random House

The Random House Publishing Group seeks a Marketing Assistant to join the Del Rey team. Reporting to the Del Rey Senior Marketing Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the world’s foremost publisher of science fiction, fantasy, romantasy, and horror. Some of the authors we publish include Katherine Arden, Pierce Brown, Cassandra Clare, Heather Fawcett, Danielle L. Jensen, Elise Kova, Micaiah Johnson, Josh Malerman, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Naomi Novik, SenLinYu, and M. L. Wang.

The Marketing Assistant should be highly motivated, enthusiastic about publishing, and have an interest in science fiction, fantasy, romantasy, and horror. This role will work with colleagues in other departments within the division, especially in Editorial, Publicity, Creative Services, Publishing, and Sales groups. The Assistant will be a detail-oriented self-starter, a strong written and verbal communicator, and an organized multitasker who is comfortable asking for help when needed and wants to be an active participant on a collaborative team. If you can manage the details of urgent tasks immediately but also remember to step back, consider the big picture, and adjust your strategy when needed, you'll assume greater marketing responsibilities over time.

Responsibilities include:

· Provide general administrative support, including mailings, giveaways, processing invoices, expense reports, etc.

· Assist the Del Rey marketing team with title marketing activities, including influencer outreach and campaigns, consumer-facing promotions, and internal record keeping

· Manage digital galley approvals and outreach for assigned titles

· Manage the general Del Rey email inbox

· Communicate between the marketing, publicity, editorial, publishing, creative services, and sales departments

Please apply if you meet the following qualifications

· An avid reader of genre fiction and nonfiction who keeps up to date on reading trends is a plus

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment and possesses a proactive and independent approach to problem-solving

· Savvy with social media and keeps up with the news cycle and emerging trends

· Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and enjoys mastering new systems and databases

· Experience in marketing, publicity, or publishing is a plus, but not required to succeed in this role—we value an organized and passionate team player with a strong interest in book marketing

The salary for this position is $51,000.  All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office mailings, meetings, author visits, and events. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

Please apply using our ATS system by June 5, 2025, and include your resume and cover letter for consideration. Before applying for any role at Penguin Random House, we recommend you review our applicant resources page.
