Part-Time Production Manager

LifeNow Studios

Location: [Port Jefferson, NY/ can be Hybrid] Type: Part-time

LifeNow Studios

We are a boutique documentary film company working in a highly niche area of Civil Justice. Our films tackle complex legal cases, but our internal North Star is Love. We believe that the most impactful storytelling comes from a place of deep empathy, a pursuit of justice, and, crucially, a sense of humor that keeps us grounded while doing "the heavy lifting."

The Role

Looking for a Production Manager who will be the primary gatekeeper for a small, fast-moving team. You will be supporting the founders in both high-level logistics and the delicate emotional labor of documentary filmmaking.

Because we work with sensitive subject matter and human stories, empathy is not a "soft skill" here- it is a core requirement.

Primary Responsibilities

Heart-Centered Logistics: Manage a complex calendar and travel schedule with an awareness of the "human element" (e.g., ensuring travel isn't just efficient, but sustainable for the team).

The "Glue" of the Office: Oversee daily operations for our small office, including basic bookkeeping/expense tracking, and maintaining digital filing systems (Google Drive Folders, Shade).

Creative Liaison: Act as a bridge between the founders/directors and the creative team (Editors, DPs, Creative Projects Manager).

Sensitive Communicator: Draft correspondence to film subjects and legal partners that reflect our company’s voice: professional, yet deeply empathetic and human.

Traits & Qualifications

The "Empathy First" Mindset: You naturally lead with kindness. You understand how to handle sensitive information and high-stakes emotions with grace.

A Sense of Humor: We work on serious topics, which makes a sense of humor essential for our team’s resilience and creative spark.

Production Fluency: A degree or background in Drama, Film, or Production is an advantage. You should understand the basic arc of a story and the technical "grind" of a shoot.

Technical Savvy: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Copper, and Zoom, or another software program you suggest would be useful to our team.

Sixth Sense: Proactive, able to anticipate, you don't wait for instructions; you see a gap and fill it.

Why This Role?

Because we are a small office, your voice matters, your sense of humor is required, and your growth is part of our mission. You will see every facet of the documentary filmmaking process - legal, creative, and technical - surrounded by a team that leads with love.
