Power Player Breakfast with Amy Emmerich, Chief Content Officer, Refinery29 – Sold Out!

The Power Player Breakfast Series brings women at the top of their career game to NYWIFT for intimate, inspiring discussions on their current projects, workingtheir ways to the top and other exciting industry insights! For October, the Power Player Breakfast welcomes guest Amy

Emmerich, Chief Content Officer at Refinery29, a leading digital lifestyle media company for women.

If you don’t know this digital powerhouse by name, you certainly know the media brands that have felt the impact of her programming.  She has more than 20 years of experience developing content and programming for brands that include MTV Networks, Travel Channel, HBO, Oxygen Media and Vice Media. An award-winning producer, she has a full spectrum of production and development experience across platforms, including linear television, digital video and emerging social media.

As Refinery29’s Content Maven, Emmerich is committed to creating a dialogue with a powerful generation of women around topics that matter. She is focused on driving content strategy and expanding distribution across channels as Refinery29 scales globally. Presently it has 25 million visitors. Refinery29’s ambitions to enter the TV space got a big step closer when it recently inked an agreement with Turner, which is expected to result in digital and TV programming collaborations.

Emmerich is likely to drop word about what kind of content Refinery29 is looking for these days. As an indication of that, consider two of its more recent endeavors: ShatterBox Anthology, a short film initiative for emerging female filmmakers, and The Skinny, a dark, comedic original series.

ShatterBox provides female filmmakers the support and opportunity to realize their visions and reach new audiences. Its first film, Kitty, which is Chloë Sevigny’s directorial debut, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last May. The Skinny debuted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. It also earned a Webby award for Drama: Long Form or Series.

Before her most recent promotion, Emmerich was the EVP of programming at Refinery29, where she spearheaded the growth of the video department, launched dozens of original series and helped expand the company’s content offerings.

Previously, Emmerich served as vice president of production at Vice Media and vice president of production and development for the Travel Channel.  Emmerich’s career also includes producer roles at HBO and Oxygen Media. She has won multiple Emmy awards for a documentary special, Translating Genocide, and projects such as MTV’s Made. She was featured in Variety’s 2016 Power of Women New York Impact Report.
