Terry’s Picks: Time’s Up, Hoda Kotb, New Test

Time’s Up: 300 prominent actresses and female agents, writers, directors, producers and entertainment executives have formed the Time’s Up initiative to fight systemic sexual harassment in Hollywood and in blue-collar workplaces nationwide. We are glad that in the face of such trying times so many women in the industry have found value in the powerful force that has been guiding NYWIFT for 40 years – solidarity with one another.

Hoda Kotb: Congratulations to Hoda Kotb, who has been named co-anchor of the early hours of the Today show, replacing Matt Lauer and joining Savannah Guthrie. Kotb has been filling in for Lauer since he was  fired on for inappropriate sexual behavior.

New Test: The statisticians at FiveThirtyEight.com polled industry leaders on what they think the criteria should be for the next “Bechdel Test,” then tested the top 50 films from 2016 with those new systems. The results for each are disappointing, but not surprising.
