ASSAL GHAWAMI is an award-winning filmmaker and performer based in New York. Cinema’s combination of music, art, culture, story, and desire to create social impact, gives Assal a medium that combines everything she loves.
After graduating from NYU’s Grad Film School, Assal co-founded Every Woman Biennial Film Festival with Finley , and she has been an in-house director & producer at New York’s first all-female-owned film studio GUM Studios. Striving to empower budding filmmakers and helping them find their unique, diverse voices Assal is also an educator at Naked Angels’ free community programs and film faculty member at New York Film Academy.
