The Power Player Breakfast Series brings women at the top of their career game to NYWIFT for intimate, inspiring discussions on their current projects, working their ways to the top and other exciting industry insights! Our 2016/2017 Power Player Breakfast series launches in September with guest Sheila Nevins, President, HBO Documentary Films.
Nevins is responsible for overseeing the development and production of all documentaries for HBO, HBO2 and Cinemax. As an executive producer or producer of more than 1000 documentaries, she has received dozens of industry awards including 31 Primetime Emmy® Awards, 34 News and Documentary Emmys® and 42 George Foster Peabody Awards along with a Personal Peabody in recognition of her work and ongoing commitment to excellence. During her tenure, HBO’s critically acclaimed documentaries have gone on to win 26 Academy Awards®.
Nevins has been honored with several prestigious career achievement awards, including the Governors Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; a Gotham Awards Tribute; and an Emmy® Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to the art of the documentary, the first time the National Television Academy awarded the recognition to a documentarian.
She is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Nevins holds a BA from Barnard College and an MFA from Yale University School of Drama in Directing.
