Victoria Hill is no stranger to creating cinematic magic, and her latest project, The Best You Can, premiering at the 2025 Tribeca Festival, is yet another example of her storytelling prowess. As lead producer of and actor in the narrative spotlight film — starring real-life couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick — Hill brings a deeply human story to life, exploring connection, loneliness, and unexpected friendship in midlife.
NYWIFT Board Member Gretchen McGowan is one of the film’s executive producers. “When Victoria Hill and Andrew Mann brought Michael Weithorn’s script to us, I thought: we’re all ready for Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon to appear on the screen together again. This is something the world could use right about now,” McGowan said in a NYWIFT announcement of member projects at Tribeca.
With a stellar career that spans producing, acting, and writing across internationally acclaimed films like First Reformed, The Chaperone, and The Secrets We Keep, Hill’s dedication to complex, character-driven stories continues to shine.
In this exclusive NYWIFT interview, Hill shares insights into filming on location in NYC, collaborating with industry heavyweights, and her mission to amplify women’s voices through Fibonacci Films.

Congratulations on the Tribeca premiere of The Best You Can! How does it feel to have the film debut at such a storied festival?
We are super excited to have this film set in New York premiering in NYC!
Can you tell us a bit about The Best You Can without giving too much away?
The Best You Can is a really lovely comedy drama about two people in their 50s who find a deep transformative connection with each other.

What drew you to this particular story?
I really loved the balance between comedy and real grown-up mid-life issues.
This project boasts a powerhouse cast. How would you describe both Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s performances?
Kevin and Kyra deliver wonderful performances and are a joy to watch together.
What was the experience like producing The Best You Can on location in New York City? Did the city itself become a character in the story?
The city is a huge character particularly as they come from very different worlds. We shot in the city and in Brooklyn.

What do you hope audiences walk away with after seeing The Best You Can? Are there specific themes or emotions you hope linger?
I hope the film brings some joy and hope to people. It tackles loneliness and life overwhelm in a really moving and funny way.
For women who aspire to become producers, especially those looking to create their own content, what advice would you offer?
I think we need more films, stories in general with the female character as the lead protagonist or one of them. Especially women over 40! So I would say to female producers we need to support and encourage people writing those stories.
Looking ahead, are there any upcoming projects you’re excited to share, or new creative directions you’re exploring?
We are very excited about a film we have been developing with the amazing Kathy Lette. HRT (Husband Replacement Therapy ) is a comedy horror TV series set in wine country. We also have a beautiful film we hope to shoot in the not-too-distant future with director Mark Bellamy and the team from Firefly Films in New Zealand.
