Diversity Reports: In a push to encourage diversity across New York State’s film and television industry, applications for the New York State Film Tax Credit Program now include two new forms that will provide critical information to support that effort.
Swim Team: Catch NYWIFT member Lara Stolman’s documentary Swim Team it at its Oscar-qualifying run at IFC Center this week! After opening on Friday it was reviewed in The New York Times and featured on ABC World News Tonight. The film was the recipient of the NYWIFT Loreen Arbus Disability Awareness Grant.
Stony Brook: Women directed nearly half of the films at this year’s Stony Brook Film Festival. Check out the festival July 20-29.

She is currently producing YTHROW, a short film set over one night in a county jail holding cell — a story of hope that honestly confronts the barriers standing between people and the care they deserve.

The Toronto International Film Festival is always filled with memorable moments, from the excitement of the red carpet to the conversations that continue long after the credits roll. NYWIFT members LaKisa Renee and Tammy Reese were invited to attend the premiere, and had the opportunity to watch Eisenberg and Academy Award winner (and 2005 NYWIFT Muse Honoree) Julianne Moore walk the red carpet before entering the theatre to introduce audiences to this smart, darkly funny story about finding purpose in an unexpected place.
