Terry’s Picks: True Stories, Get Together, Second Class Superstars

True stories: The New York Times published a detailed, sobering compilation of first-hand accounts of women and minorities struggling for equality in the entertainment industry.

Get Together: Jessica Chastain, Juliette Binoche, Freida Pinto, Queen Latifah, Catherine Hardwicke, Marielle Heller, Alysia Reiner and more have joined the advisory board of a new non-profit organization, We Do It Together, created to finance and produce films, documentaries, TV and other forms of media dedicated to the empowerment of women with a mission to create content that will change perceptions of female stereotypes. Bravo to these women – and the male allies working with them – who are drawing on their own power and experiences to help others.

Second Class Superstars: Speaking of stereotypes – check out this great video essay about female representation and characterization in the film industry, featuring insight from Geena Davis, Salma Hayek, Tracee Ellis Ross and more.
