Go watch: the first NYWIFT Nancy Malone Marketing and Promotion Grant recipient, Diary of a Teenage Girl, screening this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Written and directed by Marielle Heller with a female led produced team, the film tells the story of a young woman who enters into an affair with her mother’s boyfriend. If you’re going to Sundance, this film is a must-see!

Excited to see: #NYWIFTMuse still in the News. Red Carpet News TV did a great video recap of the Muse Awards! Of NYWIFT, they said, “The organization is known for fostering equality in film and television, and for helping young women who want to pursue a career in such a harsh industry,” and included kind words from many members and award recipients. Thanks Red Carpet News TV!

Saddened to say: a visual presentation doesn’t make the news any better.  Women stars are paid less than male stars—even for the same movie, as was revealed in the Sony leaks. Here’s an info-graphic from the New York Film Academy showing the disappointing numbers.

Terry Lawler is NYWIFT’s Executive Director. Tune in every Tuesday for her picks.
