Glad to Hear: HBO is developing another comedy series by a woman. Peeples director Tina Gordon Chism will write and Executive Produce Crushed, about an African American family running a wine business in Napa.

Best of Luck: to Nikyatu Jusu (Free the Town), Iva Radivojevic (Evaporating Borders), Sabine Krayenbuhl (Letters from Baghdad), Kristi Jacobson (Out of Mind), Yael Melamede (A Slippery Slope) and Dawn Porter (Trapped) whose films are part of Independent Film Week.

Check Out: a very moving and challenging independent film, Mother of George, written by Darci Picoult. It did very solid business over the weekend. Watch the trailer here.

Terry Lawler is the Executive Director of NYWIFT. Tune in every Tuesday for her picks of the week.
