Seven days. Six best friends. One Kayeandre concert that’s supposed to bring them all together — until the secrets they’ve been keeping from each other threaten to come out before the lights go down.

Synopsis

Weekend Warriors is a half-hour dramedy following six lifelong friends in their late twenties across one chaotic week in New York City, building toward a single unifying event: front-row tickets to a sold-out Kayeandre concert that their friend Dante promised the whole crew.

What nobody knows is that Dante just got laid off, used the ticket money to cover rent, and has spent the week running a bootleg merch hustle out of a spot on 125th Street to make it right before anyone finds out. How he actually secures the tickets in the end — and what it costs him — is a thread that pays off for the whole group at once, on stage, in the season finale.

Around him, the rest of the crew is carrying their own weight. Trey has spent the week avoiding one honest conversation with two different women. Malik has been sitting on something about who he is that he’s never said out loud to the people who love him most. Monique, his twin sister and the group’s protector, is dealing with a resurfaced ex who says all the right things — and trying to figure out if she wants him back, or just wants to have been right about him. Jasmine, the emotional glue of the group, is about to have the first real gallery opening of her career, the biggest thing she’s ever done, the same week she finally gets seen by someone the way she’s always seen everyone else. Renee, the one who holds the group’s whole infrastructure together, is the closest of anyone to finally doing something about what she needs — and who she needs it from.

The story unfolds across Harlem, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and the Lower East Side, with a visual style drawing on Spike Lee’s street-level color and Issa Rae’s modern wit, scored by R&B, hip hop, and Latin music. It’s a show about work stress, love lives, money problems, and family chaos all colliding in the same seven days — and about a friend group that shows up for each other anyway. By the time the crew gets to the concert, every thread lands in the same room at the same time.

At its core, Weekend Warriors is a love letter to New York City and to the specific, unglamorous loyalty of a friend group that has functioned as family since childhood — telling a story that is rarely given the prestige treatment it deserves.
