Synopsis
Two Latinas, one who is Mexican-American and the other who is Dominican, bond over a random ICE raid. While in hiding, the two women discuss their differences between being American-born and first-generation Latina. Through their eyes, we see the strength in the face of adversity, resilience, and laughter that gets them through panic
and fear: this traumatic experience forms a friendship, reaffirming that for Latinos, our community (and chisme) is everything.
Key Personnel
Miguel Garzón Martínez (Director) – Miguel Garzón Martínez is an award-winning filmmaker with a strong passion for philosophy, movies, and travel. He always felt a deep love for telling stories, and even before he knew he wanted to be in film, Miguel made his own comic books, which he drew and wrote in high school.
Miguel spent four years in Los Angeles, where he wrote and directed several short films and one feature film, “The Broken Legacy”. He is currently based in New York, where he continues to write and direct different projects, such as “Parousia”, “The Long Commute” and “Hero”. His work has been screened in several film festivals and has won awards for Best Feature Film, Best Short Film, Best Director and Best Actor at prestigious venues such as the Chelsea Film Festival.
Dr. Sarah Ceballos, Ph.D. (Executive Producer/Writer) – Dr. Sarah Ceballos is a 3rd-generation Mexican-American. She holds her Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Our Lady of the Lake University of San Antonio and is an Associate Professor of Management. Sarah is a 5x award-winning “Best Actress” for her role as “Sabrina” in her self-produced debut film “Hero”. As a Producer, Sarah won the “Trailblazher” Award during the NYWIFT (New York Women in Film & Television) Online Shorts Festival presented by iWomanTV. The Trailblazher Award represents outstanding representation of women in a behind-the-scenes role.
Susanne McDonald (Producer) – Susanne McDonald is a producer, actor, and director living in NYC. After having spent her formative years at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville and studying theatre at the Boston Conservatory, she pivoted to film in 2018. Most recently, she produced, wrote, and starred in “Trivial Pursuits,” which was an official selection in four New York Film Festivals, and co-produced and assistant-directed “Hero,” which won several awards and was featured in over twenty film festivals. Currently, she is producing her first feature film, “No One Likes a Mad Woman” (Script Quarterfinalist, Flickers Rhode Island).
Pete Dorton (Producer) – Pete is a successful film producer whose expertise lies in producing both feature & short films, many of which have had successful festival runs and distributions. Past producer credits include “Infidelity” (2024), starring Cara Buono, Chris Parnell, & Ileana Douglas. “Bobcat Moretti” (2022), starring Tim Realbuto & Vivica A. Fox.
Cindy Teniente (Line Producer) – Cindy Teniente is a New York–based Mexican American actress with Texas roots, and a U.S. Army veteran whose work is grounded in discipline, cultural identity, and a commitment to telling complex human stories both on stage and on screen. Cindy also has production experience. Her production credits include Quite Wing, What You Don’t Remember, and Black Flag.
