Ann Deborah Levy Biography / Filmography



ANN DEBORAH LEVY is a visual artist and experimental filmmaker based in New York. Trained originally as a painter, her work includes drawing, photography, film, and video. She has also worked in theater.



Levy turned to film-making in the early 1990s, excited by the interdisciplinary aspects of theater but desiring a visual medium. Her strongly visual films and digital videos have screened in festivals, art galleries, and alternative venues across the country. Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Art New England, and elsewhere. She has received residency fellowships at both the Yaddo and MacDowell artist colonies.

Levy is a Co-Chair Emeritus of the Women's Film Preservation Fund (WFPF) of NYWIFT and is active on its Steering Committee.
