Sasha Carrera graduated with a BA in theatre from Wesleyan University and followed that by training at the New Actors Workshop with Mike Nichols and Paul Sills.
After touring with the East Coast with the National Children's Theatre for the Environment, she earned an Ed.M. from Harvard University in Arts in Education and began developing educational programs at the Corita Art Center in Los Angeles. Subsequently, as Director of the center her biography of artist Corita Kent was published in Someday is Now: The Art of Corita Kent.
While in Los Angeles, Sasha worked as a reader for Artisan Entertainment and continued acting with the West Coast Ensemble (Dinner with Friends, Tennesee in the Summer) and Rep. East Playhouse (Frankie and Johnnie in the Clair de Lune). She also appeared in a number of short films and independent films (Forfeit of Grace, Prodigal, Democracy at Work.).
While in LA, she wrote and produced her first film, the award-winning short, Mr. Hopewell's Remedy.
In 2014, she returned to Maryland to care for her mother and earned a living as a standardized patient, role playing and training students in communications skills in local medical schools (Johns Hopkins, Univ. Maryland, Georgetown Univ). Her local credits include series regular Petra Antonelli in the award-winning Baltimore-based series Thespian and she is a long time member of the Endangered Species Theatre Co, where she played such roles as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Lady Canterville in the Canterville Ghost, Mlle Reisz in The Awkaening, Elena in Shooting Star, Ginger in Becky's New Car and Watson in the monthly Sherlock Sundays series.
She became an active member of WIFV, DC and in 2025 she produced her first feature film, Spinsters, which she wrote and stars in with Rain Pryor. Spinsters is slated for distribution in early 2027.
