Full Bio
Bella Rieth is a first-generation Brazilian-German director and producer based in New York City, known for psychological dramas that explore the fragile boundaries of identity, obsession, and transformation. Drawn to morally ambiguous characters and unconventional narratives, she crafts stories that blend stark realism with eerie subjectivity immersing audiences in unsettling yet deeply human experiences.
A graduate of the School of Visual Arts (BFA, Film Directing, summa cum laude) and the Atlantic Acting School Conservatory, Bella's directing work includes the award-winning shorts Lottie, Poor Creature, Ebba, Closing Act, Icaro, and Checkmate, which have traveled festivals from Tokyo to Florence to Santa Cruz. Her breakthrough film Poor Creature premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatres and streamed on the Roku Daily Shorts Channel; Lottie won Best Short Film at the Tokyo Film & Screenplay Awards and the Evan Kuhn Youth Film Award at Santa Cruz.
Beyond her own projects, Bella produces and assistant directs across narrative, commercial, music video, and documentary work including The Table (pilot sizzle for Alldayeveryday), Already Dreaming (music video for Of Montreal / Polyvinyl Records), the Outward Bound campaign for Alldayeveryday, and an upcoming feature documentary with Robert Kolodny's House of Nod Productions. She's 1st AD'd music videos featured in Rolling Stone's Top 100 and episodes of Gravesend (Tubi / Prime Video / Apple TV).
She is currently developing multiple features including South of the Border while continuing to push the boundaries of independent filmmaking with narratives that challenge perception and linger long after the credits roll.
