Athena Jones is a journalist with more than two decades of experience in print and broadcast and is co-directing and co-producing her first feature documentary on Black women, breast cancer and health equity.

Athena Jones is a journalist with more than two decades of experience working in wire services and in print and broadcast media. She is a skilled writer and public speaker. Athena began her career at Bloomberg News in Chile and Argentina, where she reported on the economy, politics and culture. She covered the 2008 campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama for NBC and the National Journal and worked as an NBC White House producer before joining CNN as a correspondent in 2011. Athena served as a White House correspondent during the first Trump administration and as a national correspondent in New York, where she covered politics, the Covid pandemic, the impact of the war in Gaza on teens’ mental health and other stories. Athena is a breast cancer survivor and is co-directing a feature documentary on Black women, breast cancer and health equity. She graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in Government and has a master’s degree from Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism.
