Full Bio
Bobbie Birleffi began her career in film and television at PBS with journalist Bill Moyers. Working out of Washington D.C., Birleffi helped cover the PBS Watergate Hearings and worked on The Unquiet Death of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, the first documentary ever made about the accused spies from the fifties. Her first independent Documentary, Is Anyone Home on the Range, about coal and oil disputes in Wyoming, was nominated for an EMMY. Birleffi continued her interest in the west with a Director’s Guild nomination for Texas Ranch House, a PBS historical reality series. She won an EMMY for directing FRONTLINE’s Men Who Molest and an EMMY nomination and numerous grand jury awards for co-directing with Beverly Kopf the feature documentary Wish Me Away, about the first singer in country music to come out. Under their TVGals Media banner, Birleffi and Kopf co-produced, directed and wrote Spotlight on Broadway, forty short films about each of the Broadway Theaters for The City of New York.
