Jax Broads

Director, Editor
Specific Broads Productions

I have worked as a freelance film/TV editor for over 20 years. Most recently I have divided my time between dual passions for dance and food, editing cooking shows and creating the film “Bollywood, NYC.”

Full Bio
During my 20+ year career as an independent film editor, I've cut everything from documentaries about the aftermath of the US war in VietNam to an experimental short about queerness and surveillance to the karaoke video for Hanson’s MMMBop. Unsatisfied as the landscape of opportunity narrowed to more and more ‘reality tv’, I made the leap from editor to filmmaker, creating work that I wanted to watch. For my debut effort, I turned to a community in which I am deeply embedded: Bollywood dancers in New York City. BETWEEN TWO WORLDS is the first in a series of shorts about this diverse group of New Yorkers. It premiered at the Boston Asian American Film Festival in October 2021. The film has received multiple awards as it continues on it’s festival run.
