Laura J. Burns wrote for the TV shows ROSWELL (based on a book series she created), 1-800-MISSING, and THE DEAD ZONE, and is the author of more than forty books for kids and teens.

Full Bio
Laura J. Burns, BC '91, has extensive experience as a writer and editor. She started her career in children's publishing, working at book producers 17th Street Productions and Parachute Publishing, where she edited SWEET VALLEY HIGH and GOOSEBUMPS. She also developed the book series ROSWELL HIGH, which became the TV show ROSWELL and is the basis for the current show ROSWELL NM. With her writing partner, Melinda Metz, she wrote for ROSWELL, THE DEAD ZONE, and 1-800-MISSING, as well as several pilots for 20th Century Fox Television. Laura has written more than forty books for teens and kids, including the Edgar Award-nominated series WRIGHT & WONG.



She is the New York State Communications Lead for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and has been a board member of Barnard Women in Entertainment since 2012.
