Full Bio
Linda Nieves-Powell writes across various forms and refuses to stay in one lane. Her novel FreeStyle, a comedy published by Atria/Simon & Schuster, sits alongside her short story "The Fly Ass Puerto Rican Girl from the Stapleton Projects," featured in Akashic Books' acclaimed noir series, edited by poet Patricia Smith. Proctor & Gamble tapped her to write the Nueva Latina monologues for Orgullosa, their social media brand, which performed at LULAC, Hispanicize, and beyond. Her play Yo Soy Latina has performed on hundreds of stages nationwide and was produced by Crossroads, the Tony Award-winning regional theater company, the World Bank, Campbell's, and several corporate diversity programs. Her screenplay Six of Me reached the semi-finals of the 2013 Sundance Screenwriting Lab. She holds a Master's in Education from City College, teaches ELA, and continues her own work, right now focused on how gentrification shapes Latine identity.
