Sine Aras Akten, MD
Sine, a respected nephrologist, graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is currently practicing medicine in New York City. She graduated from New York Film Academy in the field of Film Making. She has been involving many community health campaign & docudrama projects. She has been involving the storytelling process and creating a technique that has been new in Narrative Medicine. Since she has the main interest in storytelling, she applied to Harvard Media & Medicine Program where the education on the health storytelling make difference in public health. She published many articles with collaborative with peers in the program during the Covid-19 pandemic. She is author of A frontline doctor in NYC about Covid-19 and the patients stories. Since she has degree on filming and writing, nowadays, she is in process of producing her first real budget movie with one of NYC based company. Sine realizes the importance of blending art and science/medicine and she is a living example of how the two domains actually convergence. She believes in a beauty that can represent itself in every facades of life. Sine is also a painter in watercolor merging with ink by a different and unique technique and an emerging art director. She is working in Trestle Art Gallery and preparing an exhibition in coming spring 2021, about the re-cycled canvas that she has been working on so called Re-Vive . She described herself as a canvas doctor while she rescues the worn canvases in dumpster diving at the vicinity of Brooklyn. She lives in Brooklyn with her family.
