What you'll do:


  • Maintaining publication schedules and departmental databases, and otherwise tracking the publication process for approximately 10-15 titles per year
  • Communicating with authors and agents throughout the publication process, as well as acting as an interdepartmental liaison
  • Logging agented submissions for the department, evaluating manuscripts, writing reader reports, and sending rejection letters
  • Drafting contract and check requests, generating sales reports and editorial P&Ls, and tracking payments and invoices
  • Writing flap copy, title information sheets, and catalog copy
  • Basic administrative support, including schedule coordination and travel

What you'll bring:


  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and exceptional time management
  • A genuine interest in book publishing and knowledge of the current reading audience over a broad range of fiction and nonfiction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize, set and meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Proven ability to adapt to an increasingly digital work environment

Ideal Experience:


  • 0-1 years; this is an entry-level position
  • Preference for internships in the publishing industry or editorial experience in an academic setting
  • Candidates with alternative (non-publishing industry-based) office experience are welcome
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equal experience

This role will have an annual salary of $47,500.
