Fall/Winter 2019 Film and Video Archivist Intern

Maxi Cohen Studio

The intern will catalogue, archive, and preserve four motion picture film prints and/or elements and other decades of Maxi Cohen’s work, which include moving image media and related assets, including photography, writing, animation and drawings, documents and ephemera. This work will allow the materials to be accessible with the goal of securing grants and/or future partnerships for preservation, potential digitization where applicable, and retrospectives. One preservation project/partnership is expected to be in place during the internship experience. Asset locations include on-site at Maxi Cohen Studio in SoHo, New York City and an off-site commercial warehouse; records include active working materials and historical records in deep storage.

Maxi Cohen Studio is flexible in working with the intern to structure the internship scope and schedule in a manner that works best to support professional development for the intern while meeting the goals of Maxi Cohen. This is a unique intern experience working directly with a filmmaker and artist and their team in an active studio.
