POSITION DETAILS

The Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, which welcomed an inaugural class of 69 students at Steiner Studios in Fall 2015, is the first public film school in New York. Now in its sixty year with 200 students, Feirstein is dedicated to cultivating new and emerging voices in cinema. Housed in a 70,000 sq. ft. state-of the-art facility on the Steiner Studios lot, the school offers a 3-year specialized education in 8 disciplines leading to an M.F.A: Producing (2 Year), Directing, Screenwriting, Cinematography, Post-Production, and Digital Animation and Visual Effects. Media Scoring and Sonic Arts; and a 2-year M.A. in Screen Studies.

Brooklyn College invites applications for an Administrative Coordinator to the Executive Director in the Barry R. Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director, the Administrative Coordinator provides support to expand our efforts in service of marketing and publicizing the school and its programs, in service of increasing recruitment and enrollment, as well as enhancing the student experience and community at Feirstein School.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Administrative Coordinator's duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate ongoing recruitment activities, tours, info sessions and serving as a liaison to the appropriate College offices.
  • Assist with marketing the school and public relations as well as special events planning and coordination, including screenings, workshops, master classes, and an annual student film festival.
  • Support the organizing and scheduling of industry Advisory Council and mentor meetings with thesis students.
  • Assist in coordinating and recruiting and engaging industry guests and donors to support the school and students, making presentations and providing tours etc.
  • Assist with creating and posting content for social media, including video and still images of seminars and guests, etc.
  • Support the general marketing and publicity activities for the school, including, alumni communication and cultivation, internship opportunities, as well as scholarship disbursement and recognition.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience, or background working in a higher education, or other academic environment preferred or film industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication and computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot problems and take initiative as needed
  • Must be comfortable communicating with entertainment industry professionals who will be visiting the School
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and MAC proficiency. Knowledge of photoshop a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft/Oracle-based systems, including CUNYfirst a plus but not required

  • Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.
  • Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.
  • Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
  • Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.
  • Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.
  • Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
  • Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
  • May supervise office staff and student workers.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
