Who should consider applying to become a screener?

• Film aficionados who enjoy watching wonderful films, have some extra free time, and are interested in becoming acquainted with new filmmakers, many of whom are local to New York City and Brooklyn specifically. 
• Filmmakers and others who work in the film and television industry and are interested in networking with other likeminded individuals whether it's at our in-person events or on social media.  
  
• Aspiring programmers! If you think you might be interested in becoming a film festival programmer joining a screening committee is a wonderful way to sharpen your programming process as you assess submissions and share your feedback with the programmers and other screeners.

Is there a reward for screening committee members?
 

Absolutely! Screening committee members who screen a minimum of fifteen hours of film by Friday, July 24th will receive one complimentary all-festival pass to the festival in October + Discount code to share with your network.

Bonus Option: Screening committee members who are feeling adventurous and screen thirty-plus hours of film by Sunday, July 26th will receive a second all-festival pass so they can invite a friend!

If you would like to apply to be a screener, please send us an email at programming@bushwickfilmfestival.com and we'll respond with a link to our screener test which will ask you to watch and evaluate three shorts. This is a great way to help us become familiar with your approach to screening and determine which areas of programming align best with your interests and style. Volunteer applicants selected for the committee will receive confirmation shortly after their screener tests are reviewed, along with a batch of film submissions to assess on FilmFreeway.
