FREELANCE FILM DISTRIBUTION / OUTREACH — EXPERIMENTAL ANIMATION

Independent filmmaker/producer is looking for a freelance film distribution/outreach specialist to help place an experimental animated short with alternative and independent media platforms, distributors, curators, and screening organizations. 

The film is a short experimental animation with a strong visual and political dimension. We are looking beyond conventional commercial distribution and are particularly interested in experimental cinema, animation, art film, independent film, alternative media, and politically engaged programming.

The job:

• Research and identify appropriate distribution platforms, online publications, curators, experimental film outlets, and non-theatrical screening opportunities

• Identify distributors/aggregators that are genuinely appropriate for experimental short animation

• Prepare and/or customize submissions and pitches

• Make direct outreach to relevant programmers, curators, platforms, and distributors

• Track submissions and contacts in a simple spreadsheet

• Advise on the most promising distribution strategy and opportunities

• Follow up with contacts where appropriate

Ideal candidate:

• Has experience in independent/experimental film distribution, programming, film festivals, or film publicity

• Understands the experimental film and animation ecosystem

• Has existing contacts with curators, programmers, distributors, or alternative media outlets

• Is a strong researcher and writer

• Can work independently and produce concrete results rather than simply provide a list of websites

Compensation: $500–$1,000, depending on experience and scope.
