Associate Producer/Editor

Burst Films

Looking for an early-career producer/editor (preferably in the non-fiction/documentary space) who has some experience in producing and editing, and interest in gaining more, as well as a willingness to bring ideas and creativity to the production of programs. The position is not geographically-bounded – can be remote- but preference will be given to candidates within 2 hours of the New York City area. Part-time, approximately 2 days/week as an independent contractor to start.

Duties:

Research and field producing:

Researching documentary topics, character pre-interviews, arranging interviews and logistics for production, researching grants and other fundraising opportunities, and assisting in proposal and grant writing in collaboration with producer. Assist and prepare potential impact campaigns.

Archival:

Reviewing of materials for sourcing of archival elements and approaching relevant organizations to acquire materials with appropriate releases.

Editorial:

Leading several concurrent editorial projects through stages of organization, logging, beginning structure of edit, and working with editor through rough cut. Includes creation of string-outs, assembly, and other editorial duties (dialogue/music editing/temp graphic creation). Software use to be determined by joint decision (preference to candidates with experience in Avid or willingness to learn).

Remote workflow:

Experience or capability to learn appropriate remote workflows to facilitate good collaboration through the use of Google drive, Vimeo, responsive and responsible online interaction through text and email and other forms, as well. High-speed internet connection for downloading/uploading large video files would be necessary.

Other skills:

Camera and field production experience highly desirable. Animation experience useful. Willingness and desire to learn all facets of a production – from pre-to-post.

Ideally, looking for someone who would be interested and able to grow with the business as more funding is secured, and become a partner in the success of the projects. Interest in creating and pitching new programming and ideas of their own as business grows.

POC/Women encouraged to apply. Please email to hr@burst-films.com with cover letter addressing your experience in relation to the duties expressed above. Thanks!
