DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

  • The InfoSec Department at SPE is committed to safeguarding SPE’s information, including our most critical assets, our content, while enabling the business to operate securely and efficiently. We strive to foster a strong security culture across the organization, embedding secure practices into everyday operations and decision-making.
  • The intern will be a shared resource between the Risk Management team and the Production Security team.
  • The Risk Management team provides enterprise-wide risk visibility, helping business stakeholders make informed decisions and proactively manage information security risks.
  • The Production Security team focuses on securing content throughout the production lifecycle by developing scalable solutions, improving security maturity, and anticipating threats to reduce risk.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an InfoSec Intern, you will:

  • Analyze large datasets from risk programs, threat intelligence, and other security sources to identify trends, anomalies, and proactive risk reduction opportunities.
  • Conduct research and data-driven analysis to uncover emerging risks and develop insights that inform risk strategy.
  • Support end-to-end information security risk assessments for systems, workflows, and third-party engagements globally across SPE.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable processes and tools that improve production security maturity and reduce vulnerabilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to synthesize and interpret complex data sets into actionable insights.
  • A naturally curious mindset and eagerness to learn, with a desire to understand how things work and explore creative solutions.
  • Clear and concise communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Highly self-motivated, collaborative, and capable of working independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience (academic or professional) working within Information Security, including risk management, security operations, or cybersecurity research.
  • Hands-on experience with data analysis, including working with large datasets to derive insights.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools or techniques (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI, Python libraries, etc.) to communicate findings effectively.
