Studio & Marketing Assistant (Part-Time) - Mikooka Projects, Brooklyn, NYC
Mikooka Projects is a small film production company in Brooklyn making creative documentary and fiction work. We're looking for an organized, detail-obsessed assistant with an eye for design to help run the studio and our marketing day-to-day. Part-time, hybrid, Fridays always off.
Who we are: A small Brooklyn production company and artist's studio, working at the intersection of identity, migration, fantasy, and belonging. We make hybrid work, the space between documentary and scripted narrative.
Two projects give you the flavor:
Dancing Through, our feature verite documentary filmed over five years across three continents, following three displaced girls and their mothers. Now in distribution and heading to festivals and international release.
Pocking, a documentary-animation film built from archival photographs of Jewish refugees who passed through the Pocking displaced-persons camp after WWII. In production now.
The role: A right-hand role in two halves. First, keeping things running: organizing files and projects, admin and correspondence, tracking expenses and light bookkeeping, coordinating schedules, and building simple gear-rental listings. Second, marketing and design: we lean on our own visual materials constantly, so a clean eye for layout matters, from a social post to a one-pager to a web page. We also build practical, ethical AI tools to help a tiny team move faster; you don't need to know it all, just be curious and eager to run with it.
You might be a fit if you: have a good design eye and can make things look clean; are NYC-based and can do some days in Brooklyn; are organized and reliable, good at holding many small things at once; write well enough to handle outreach in our voice; are genuinely curious about AI; and care about film or social storytelling.
The details: Starting at 2-3 days a week over the next couple of months, with the possibility of expanding later depending on the projects. This is project-driven work, so we're not locking in a fixed long-term schedule up front. Hybrid, some days in Brooklyn, some remote. Fridays always off. Day rate based on experience.
How to apply: Send your CV and a short cover letter (who you are, why this role, and anything you're proud of) to info@mikooka.com.
