Internships with the Rough Riders provide hands-on experience in a professional sports setting, offering students and aspiring media professionals the opportunity to gain real-world experience working within live matchday broadcasts.

About the Role

The Radio / Commentary Intern will support the matchday broadcast team with commentary preparation, research, and coordination. This role is suited for students interested in sports journalism, broadcasting, or communications.

What You Will Do

• Assist with pre-game preparation including research, statistics, and match notes
• Support play-by-play and color commentators with live match information
• Help coordinate communication between the commentary booth and production team
• Assist with pre-match and post-match broadcast preparation
• Support media staff with general broadcast operations

Qualifications

• Interest in sports broadcasting, journalism, or communications
• Strong knowledge of soccer preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a live broadcast environment
• Availability for evening and weekend matchdays 

Internship Details

• Type: Credit-Based Internship (Unpaid). This internship is eligible for academic credit through your college or university. Students may need to coordinate with their institution for approval.
• Duration: Approximately 3–4 months during the summer season
• Location: Long Island, NY
• Schedule: Matchdays and occasional preparation sessions
