Part-Time Classroom Facilitator (Temporary, Non-Exempt)

Responsibilities
- Facilitate the delivery of the Stockade Works Access Youth (SWAY) program in partner schools:
- Serve as the consistent classroom facilitator and primary point of contact for students throughout SWAY programming.
- Facilitate select SWAY curriculum modules, including Career Awareness sessions as assigned.
- Support guest instructors and industry professionals during specialized workshops and classroom activities.
- Foster a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment alongside school staff.
- Support student engagement, teamwork, collaboration, and professional behavior throughout the program.
- Prepare classroom materials and equipment for daily instruction, including transporting program equipment between Stockade Works facilities and partner schools as needed.
- Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, organization, and inventory before and after classroom sessions.
- Maintain attendance records and communicate classroom updates, student needs, and program observations (including documentation through written reports and photography) to the Program Director and Program Manager.
- Build positive working relationships with classroom teachers, school staff, industry professionals, and students.
- Assist with field trips, mock shoots, career awareness activities, screenings, and other workforce development initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Confidence, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, classroom teachers, and industry professionals.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while taking initiative in the classroom.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills, with the ability to create a positive, supportive, and productive learning environment.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: education (middle or high school), youth development (mentoring, coaching, facilitating, leading), media production, film, television, creative industries, arts education, or community programming.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to stay flexible in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Adaptability and the ability to respond effectively to the needs of diverse learners.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Slides, Calendar, Meet, etc.).
- A strong commitment to Stockade Works' mission and values, with a demonstrated dedication to access, inclusion, and equitable educational opportunities.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to partner schools and program sites throughout the Hudson Valley.
- Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- 1-2 years of relevant professional experience is preferred.
Sample Monthly Schedule
Please note: Every month looks a little different. This schedule is intended to illustrate the variety of the role rather than represent a typical or guaranteed monthly schedule. Hours fluctuate based on school partnerships, program offerings, and special events.
Week 1 – Classroom-Based @ School #1 (~18 hours): M/F 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (includes equipment pickup); T/W/Th 1:00–3:00 p.m.; occasional extended days for field trips, mock productions, screenings, or special events.
Week 2 – Career Awareness & Admin (~4-8 hours): One 2–4 hour school visit + 2–4 flexible administrative hours (remote)
Week 3 – Classroom-Based @ School #2 (12.5 hours): M–F 10:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. + travel and setup time as needed.
Week 4 – Variable Programming Week (~4–20 hours): May resemble Weeks 1-3, or include longer days for field trips, mock productions, screenings, or special events.
