In Memoriam: Marissa Kelton

(January 9, 1985  –  August 17, 2022)

NYWIFT Member Marissa Ann Cantalupo (nee Kelton) passed away on August 17, 2022 as a result of complications from Leukemia, which had been diagnosed a few days prior.

Born to parents Saul and Evelyn, she was the older of two sisters. Marissa attended Muhlenberg College, where she studied acting. After college, she met her husband, Anthony J Cantalupo, and they welcomed their first child two weeks into the pandemic.

Marissa was known for her roles in the short films Sleepers (2001) and Kissed By Inspiration (2013), as well as the full-length film Sugar! in 2016. She had worked in theater as well as film, and had a few appearances on television as well. Marissa was also the winner of the “Best NJ Comedy” award at the Brightside Tavern Shorts festival for her work in the film Uneffable

Marissa is loved and dearly missed by her parents; her sister Eliza; her husband Anthony J Cantalupo; her in-laws, nieces, and nephews; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her child Maggie, and instead of flowers, the family is accepting donations for an Arts Education Fund, which will be set up in her name.
