Retirement Planning for Freelancers – November 2019

Freelancers usually don’t have access to 401K and pension plans that so many workers take for granted. As usual, freelancers need to do it all themselves. Attend an in-depth and informative financial planning seminar geared towards the retirement needs of freelancers. Whether you are just starting to get your first few projects or you have been freelancing in film and television for years, this presentation is for you.

Certified Financial Planners Gail Linn and William Fischer at Fortis Lux Financial (an office of MassMutual) will inform you about the key concepts you need to consider when it comes to saving for retirement, protection strategies, business transition, estate planning and more. They will clarify some of the more confusing financial issues we face every day and help you focus your efforts on your goals. Presentation will also cover tax savings strategies.

Light Refreshments will be served.

This event is FREE and open exclusively to NYWIFT members. Advance registration required.

Panelists:

William Fischer, CFP, is a Fortis Lux Financial Services and Investment Adviser Representative whose business philosophy and mission is to help individuals develop financial strategies and achieve those strategies through various financial products designed to meet their present and future needs. Fischer’s process is simple and never makes clients feel embarrassed about their financial knowledge. His primary strategy is to educate clients about where they are versus what they want to accomplish….and what products and services are available to best get them there. Once a client’s strategy is established, his job shifts into a service oriented role. A client’s financial strategy is a fluid, ever-changing plan and Fischer is in regular contact to make sure the plan set in motion yesterday, works effectively today. When adjustments are necessary, he presents, discusses and implements any changes, creating a road map to take clients where they want to be.

Gail Linn, CFP, is a Fortis Lux Financial Services and Investment Adviser Representative who specializes in working with professionals and corporate executives as they plan for and transition into retirement. Linn’s 29 years of experience includes presenting numerous financial seminars and workshops on retirement planning to many groups and organizations including NYWIFT, NY Women in Communication, the NY Public Library Financial Literacy Center, Financial Planning Association of NY, Professional Women at MetLife, the Real Estate Board of NY and the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. Linn believes in being involved in the shaping of the financial services industry and spent 8 years on the Board of FPANY (Financial Planning Association), culminating in being the President and Chairman of the Board and serving one year as Director of Development on the National Board of WIFS (Women in Insurance & Financial Services). She strongly supports the growth of women professionals in financial services and as a result of her efforts in mentoring other women, WIFS presented Linn with the 2014 Angel Award. She has also received the Circle of Excellence Award from them over the past 6 years. Linn is one of 23 women featured in, Financial Services: Women at the Top. This book provides insight from a woman’s perspective about success in the financial services industry and how to achieve it. Linn is a Lifetime qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table and was honored in 2013 by the online publication, Life Health Pro, as being one of the “20 Women In Insurance You Need to Know”.
