Back by popular demand is one of NYWIFT’s most sought-after masterclasses, Feature Film Budgeting with Producer/Line Producer Sirad Balducci.
Budgeting a feature film can be daunting and overwhelming for any filmmaker, whether they are a newcomer or a seasoned professional, and it is a critical step towards getting their movie financed.
In this two-part masterclass, we will demystify the budgeting process, offering insights into script breakdown and shoot schedules and covering fundamental budgeting basics. We’ll explore how to collaborate effectively with producers, directors, and department heads, and share strategies to align your movie’s production plan with the project’s creative vision.
The class is geared toward independent feature films in the 5M range, but also can be applied to short films as well.

SESSION 1: SCRIPT BREAKDOWN & SCHEDULING
Date: Thursday, June 11, 2026
Time: 6:30 – 8pm ET
Session 1, you’ll learn how to break down a screenplay by tagging every production element — including cast, locations, props, stunts, special effects, wardrobe, and more. From there, we’ll walk through how to organize those elements into a professional shooting schedule that becomes the foundation of your entire production plan while supporting the filmmaker’s creative vision. A live Q&A session will follow the workshop.
SESSION 2: FILM BUDGETING
Date: Thursday, June 18, 2026
Time: 6:30 – 8pm ET
Session 2 we’ll take you inside Movie Magic Budgeting for feature films and break down the fundamentals of building a professional production budget. Topics include above-the-line and below-the-line costs, crew and cast rates, fringes, payroll taxes, post-production, completion bonds, insurance, and tax credits. We’ll also discuss how budgeting approaches differ for documentaries and short films. A live Q&A session will follow the workshop.
About the Instructor
Sirad Balducci is a seasoned independent feature film producer and line producer based in New York. With extensive experience overseeing every facet of the production process, from script development to production management, post-production, and final delivery, Balducci consistently forges partnerships with top-tier directors and producers to bring their dream projects to life. Balducci’s multifaceted involvement in the industry includes founding Give Film Productions, serving as a Board Member of NYWIFT, and being a proud member of the DGA.
In addition to a career behind the scenes, Balducci holds directing credits, including the award-winning short film Generation Lockdown. Balducci continues to have a deep commitment to harnessing the social impact of film and amplifying unique and underrepresented voices in cinematic storytelling.
