THE JANES (2022, 101 min, Dirs: Tia Lessin, Emma Pildes)

This award-winning documentary chronicles the pre-Roe v. Wade era when young female activists who called themselves ‘Jane’ built an underground network for women with unwanted pregnancies, providing safe, low-cost illegal abortions to an estimated 11,000 women.

Post-screening discussion: filmmakers Tia Lessin and Emma Pildes with Dr. Wendy Chavkin, Columbia/Mailman School of Public Health; co-founder, Global Doctors for Choice.
